Discovering the Nirvana of earphones is what every audiophile desires. To help them achieve this goal, Om Audio has introduced the INEARPEACE earphones, which features a special pressure-relief system designed to bring hours of comfortable listening by reducing air pressure in your ear. The design combines a balanced armature driver for precise high frequency reproduction and a 10-mm coiled driver for smooth, deep bass response. Together, the INEARPEACE earphones provide an amazing listening experience. An integrated microphone and control button on the left side cord allows for easy control when taking calls or listening to music.
The INEARPEACE comes with a rigid carrying case along with a cord clip to keep the microphone in place when talking on the phone. Four different sized earpieces are included to accommodate various ear shapes. The Om symbol is stamped on the front and the back of the case.
The INEARPEACE has a 4-foot flat cable design that is a favorite of mine and keeps the cord from becoming a tangles mess. The 3.5mm plug has four conductors, making it compatible with many different phones including our iPhone 4 and Galaxy Nexus. My experience with flat cable designs and their robustness has been quite good.
The INEARPEACE impedance is stated to be 16 ohms, yet we saw the impedance drop much lower when sweeping across the typical frequency range. There was a peak impedance of 16.9 ohms at 20Hz and a second peak of 14.9 ohms at 16 kHz. A minimum impedance of 4.8 ohms was measured at 500Hz. The impedance at 1kHz measured 5.5 ohms. Since many portable media players vary in drive capability, the
sound quality can change depending on the player.
The INEARPEACE earphones provide a wonderful listening experience and are practical to use while on the road. The cable design and integrated microphone make them great for both music as well as taking phone calls. A single press of the control button toggles between play and pause when listening to music and can also be used to answer phone calls. Two button presses selects the next track, while three button presses selects the previous track. The tangle-free cable design lets me roll up the cable to place into the carrying case and quickly remove it without a mess. Many other earphones in my past reviews have suffered from tangles and it is no fun spending your first few minutes on a flight trying to get the knots out.
If you happen to be looking for some great sounding earphones that are built to last, you might want to give the INEARPEACE earphones a try. I liked the design, offering a comfortable fit, great functionality and above all excellent sound quality. The in-ear design also works well to isolate background noise and immerse you into the music. For less than $150 retail, these INEARPEACE earphones offer a great listening experience.
